I don't see how it can be expected that universities should fix these problems being created by the schooling system, its a bit late then to try and sort it out. The schooling system needs to be seriously looked at and the problems need to be tackled head on there. Support structures at university are one thing, but seemingly some students need to have their entire school curriculum taught to them so that they can understand the basics of disciplines.
