ZED OH EM GEE!
VANS can self-provide (!!!)
The court ruled in favour of Altech Autopage, which means that any VANS license holder effectively had the right to self provide since 2005. This in turn means that all VANS license holders should automatically qualify for an Individual ECNS license under the new Electronic Communications Act (ECA) since no license holder under the old system should lose any rights under the new act.How awesome is that! I wonder if government will retaliate, coz this puts their stupid managed liberalisation mission in the toilet. Personally I think we should flush as quickly as possible.
Ruling stuns SA telecoms market
The South African telecommunications landscape has been fundamentally changed as of Friday morning when a judge ruled in favour of Altech Autopage's High Court application essentially appealing for all network service providers be allowed to build their own networks.
What I would really like to read is what the Judge actually said. Was there some interesting commentary on how the Minister can not just say "her words were unfortunate" and that just undoes them and that you can't just remove the law with a statement, etc.

Thanks Dominic! I did found that already though too. 67 pages is a monster of legalese, but I'll plod through it. I am just so pleased that this was the result. All I can say is go Altech! Yay for them getting this into a court where a judge could officially say what is what.
